Maxine Revell Hughes

November 24, 1928 - February 8, 2020

Mrs. Maxine Revell Hughes, age 91 of Cordova, formerly of Obion, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Germantown. Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Friday, February 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Obion where she was a member. Friends may call at the church from 12 PM until 1 PM at the church on Friday, February 14. Rev. Terry English will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elbridge Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. She was born November 24, 1928 in Trenton, TN, the daughter of the late Guy Revell and Flossie (Wilson) Revell. She retired from the Bank of Mississippi-Bancorp South, West Point, MS. She was past owner/designer of Kountry Kuts Woodwork and Crafts and worked at Lucky Dollar Store in West Point and a member of Methodist Quilt and Sewing Circle. Because of the untimely and early death of her mother she became the “mother figure” and caregiver to her 5 other siblings. Maxine and her husband were founding members of Christ United Methodist Church in West Point, always putting her love of Christ in all of her actions. She supported many Christian missions and outreach programs while keeping up with five challenging, talented but PERFECT children. Her greatest joys were her husband, her five children and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Hughes is survived by three sons, Ronald Hughes of Cordova, Ira Blanton Hughes, Jr. of Cordova and Randy Hughes of Indianapolis IN, a daughter Linda (Hughes) Marquez of Houston, TX; two brothers Ralph Revell and Billy Revell both of Union City; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ira Blanton Hughes, Sr.; a son Douglas Hughes; two brothers Thomas”Bub” Revell, Chester Revell and a sister Nina Marie (Revell) Willoughby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following, Alzheimer’s Assn., Gideon Bibles or the First United Methodist Church of Obion.
