Linda K. Parnell

Mrs. Linda Kay Parnell, age 75, was born in the Maxie Community in Dyer County on July 8, 1937. She was the daughter of the late McCoy Thompson and Mildred Connell Thompson of Union City. She graduated in 1957 from the former Obion High School and received a degree of cosmetology from the former Anderson’s Beauty School in Union City. Mrs. Parnell composed the song “Obion” for the 100th Centennial Celebration for the town of Obion in 1972. She was the author of the book, “Seeds of Encouragement” and was active in the Seeds of Encouragement Ministry. Mrs. Parnell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Obion. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Glen Parnell of Obion; two daughters, Sidonna Foust and husband Darrell of Alamo and Jana Parnell of Obion; a son, Mark Parnell and wife Melinda of Obion; four grandchildren, Drew Foust of Pensacola, FL, Heath Foust of Memphis, Emma Foust of Alamo and Hannah Parnell of Troy. Rev. John Carroll will officiate at the 11 AM service on Sat., April 27 at the First United Methodist Church in Obion. Pallbearers will be Randy Evans, Richard Hood, Gerald Hollis, Shane Hutchens, Casey Hood and Terry Ledbetter.
