Bonnie Sanders

Mrs. Bonnie Mary Sanders, age 93 of the Elbridge Community died Wednesday, February 17 at Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN. She was the daughter of the late George Stockard and Maude Bouquet (Hailey) Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Ezra Sanders on Jan. 8, 1986 a son James Alvin Sanders on Jan. 12, 2009, a brother Chester Thompson, and three sisters Mildred Thompson, Lota Ree Thompson and Elizabeth Loeffel. Mrs. Sanders is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Jerry Carver of Obion and Marilyn and Coley Graves of Bartlett, a daughter-in-law Wanda Sanders of Union City, eight grandchildren Jennifer Panter of Oakdale, CA, Karen Sanders of Cordova, TN, Greg Sanders of Nashville, TN, Gary Graves of Bartlett, TN, Donna Phillipy of Bartlett, TN, Jeff Carver of Decaturville, TN, Cindy Harrison of Memphis and Mike Carver of Millington, TN, and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Sanders was well known for writing “Pea Ridge Ramblings” for the Union City Daily Messenger and the Lake County Banner since the l950’s. She was treasurer of New Chapel United Methodist Church, charge treasurer for Elbridge & Zion Methodist Church, treasurer for Reelfoot Group Ministry, adult and children’s Sunday School teacher, secretary and supervisor of maintenance of Elbridge Cemetery, secretary of Reelfoot Rural Ministries Board of Trustees and MIFA Advisory Board, secretary of Tennessee Extension Homemakers Council, president and secretary of Obion County Council of Extension Homemakers, president, secretary and treasurer of Cloverdale Extension Homemakers, president and secretary of Cloverdale PTA, president of Obion County Council PTA, secretary/treasurer of 1934 Graduating Class Reunion Committee for Ridgely High School and a life time member of the Obion County Fair Board. In addition, Mrs. Sanders catered weddings and open houses on a small scale, worked as manager/cook of Cloverdale School lunchroom, a grocery store clerk and Senior Citizens Director for Reelfoot Rural Ministry. Pallbearers will be Curtis Phillipy, Donald Panter, Greg Sanders, Gary Graves, Jeff Carver, Mike Carver and Roland Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Flavil Hayes, David Critchlow, Sr., David Cunningham, Paul Albright, Bobby Rainey, Greg Ervin, Jerry Sellers and members of the board of directors of the Elbridge Cemetery Associatio
